 Day 34 February 1, 2012

Pray for good weather, and safe traveling conditions.

Psalm 19:1 (NIV)

“The Heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”

Dear Lord, be with all of the folks as they come to visit our city and the Super Bowl. Give them peaceful travels and good weather. Please keep the storms away until after people are safely home from the festivities. Watch over the visitors and residents as we welcome them. We ask this prayer in your son's name - Jesus. Amen

Day 35 February 2, 2012

Pray for protection for people attending the Super Bowl.

Psalm 20:1 (NIV1984)

“May the Lord answer when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.”

Psalm 91:14-16 (NKJV)
14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”

Oh Lord, please watch over and protect all those who will be traveling as they come to our city. Protect and guide them from all the distresses of weather, traffic, and new surroundings. Please give them wisdom, patience, and peace as they travel. We ask this prayer in your son's name, Jesus. Amen.

Day 36 February 3, 2012

Pray for protection of the athletes during practices and the game.
James 1:2-3 (NIV1984)

“Consider it pure joy, my brother, whenever you face trials of many kinds,
because you know the testing of your faith develops perseverance.”

Dear Lord, as each team prepares for the game, watch over and protect them from harm and injuries. Watch over all the athletes and officials that will be participating in the game. Motivate them to display teamwork and respect for the other team. Please allow sportsmanship to rule. As you protect us all, protect the participants during the game, as well as those who are watching. We ask this prayer in your son's name - Jesus. Amen

Day 37 February 4, 2012

Pray for the celebration of a successful Super Bowl

Proverbs 28:12 Amplified Bible

"12When the [uncompromisingly] righteous triumph,
there is great glory and celebration;
but when the wicked rise [to power], men hide themselves."

El-Elyon, the Most High God, we give you praise and honor for all the wonderful things which have happened over the past days during the Super Bowl extravaganza. We have seen you in many places working in the hearts, minds, and souls of the people. The time is close and the anticipation of the Super Bowl explodes around us with excitement and anticipation. May we celebrate and proclaim glorious experiences and activities. Watch over and protect us all as we celebrate your presence wherever people walk. You are the Most High God, ruler and reigning over Indiana. Thank you. We love you more each day. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 38 February 5, 2012

Pray for the celebration of a successful Super Bowl for the teams represented.

1 Corinthians 9:23 – 27 (NIV1984)
“23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.
24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?
Run in such a way as to get the prize.
25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training.
They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
26 Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air.
27 No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others,
I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”

Oh, Jesus, you walked on earth and taught us how to live a godly life. We pray for the coaches, trainers, athletes, and all staff members who are competing in the Super Bowl as they practice, train, and mentally prepare for the game. We ask that they focus on teamwork and good sportsmanship. Give them wisdom, courage, strength, and stamina throughout the game. Help them take their eyes off of selfish gain and focus on unity to win. Prevent bribes from destroying the integrity of the players and coaches. Protect players from injuries. Let this game be true, honest competition to the end. We ask that both teams give God the praise for their success before, during, and after the Super Bowl. Thank you, Jesus, for helping us celebrate the Super Bowl in Indianapolis, Indiana. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 39 February 6, 2012

Pray for safe travel for people returning home.

John 10:28-29

“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all:
no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand.”

Most Gracious Heavenly Father, we ask you to keep watch over our guests as they return to their homes. As you have promised to protect all who worship you, please protect them so they arrive home safely. We ask this prayer in your son's name - Jesus. Amen

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations,
for ever and ever! Amen.

Adonai, Lord God Almighty, we humble our hearts before your throne with great love and devotion. Thank you for your presence for the last forty days in preparation of the Super Bowl in Indianapolis. Holy Spirit, please blow on the spark of revival to ignite souls to serve you around the globe. We truly give you the honor, praise and worship due your name for your majesty dwelling in Indianapolis for forty days and nights. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

A special thank you is expressed to the contributing writers: Bill Barnhill, Bill Byers, Janet Byers, Ann Crider, Linda Hankins, Jacquie Meisenhelder, Karen Richards, and Ruth Esther Vawter.

In August, we were inspired by Terry Teykl when he spoke at our church, Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. We have been studying Terry’s workbook: Encounter, A Blueprint for the House of Prayer. Our goal was to unite the people of Indianapolis to pray for a successful Super Bowl. When you bring the Glory of God into your community, evil can’t stick around. We have asked many churches to join our prayer efforts.

We pray you have been blessed by reading the scriptures and praying each day. Please share any divine encounters or ways you were able to minister to people during the Super Bowl. We want to share how God worked in the lives of people during the Super Bowl activities.

Please leave comments on this site or you may contact the church office or leave a message on the church website.

Thank you and God bless you.

 Day 26 January 24, 2012

Pray for the Media to find positive stories of human interest to report.

1 Chronicles 16:23-25 (NIV1984)
23 Sing to the LORD, all the earth;
proclaim his salvation day after day.

he is to be feared above all gods.
Luke 7:16-18 (NIV1984)
“16 They were all filled with awe and praised God. “A great prophet has appeared among us,”
they said. “God has come to help his people.”
17 This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea[a] and the surrounding country.”

Jehovah-Shalom, the God of Peace, we come before your throne with love and appreciation. We ask that you work through the Media: radio, television, newspaper, magazines, and internet, to report stories truthfully. Please open doors of opportunities for positive human interest activities to be highlighted in the news. We praise you that the media will be a source of peace during the events of the Super Bowl. We pray for boldness to report miracles, signs, and wonders that will give you praise, honor, and glory. Thank you, Jesus for sitting on your throne, ruling over the Super Bowl. We pray in the name of your son. Amen.

Philippians 4:19-21 (NIV1984)
“19 And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
20 To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

Jehovah-Jireh, the Great Provider, we thank you for providing for each need we have. You care about every detail of our lives. You granted Indianapolis favor to host the Super Bowl. Thank you for considering us worthy of planning a great event. We pray that you will be honored throughout the time of preparation, and afterwards. We call upon you to grant financial blessings on the businesses that are affected by the Super Bowl. We pray that people will invest wisely for their businesses. We pray for people to spend money wisely. We ask you to strengthen people to be bold and not step into temptation to spend their money on foolish, unhealthy, and sinful things. We give you praise for the ability to proclaim your favor over the businesses in Indianapolis as a result of the Super Bowl visiting here. May business owners praise your name. Amen.

Grant them wisdom to spend their finances wisely. Give them courage to remain faithful to their loved ones. Protect them from wicked scams or activities. Inspire them to draw near to you by divine encounters. We pray that they will give you praise for the blessings and entertainment they receive from this vacation. Thank you for blessing each person attending the Super Bowl. We request this prayer in the name of Jesus. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 29 January 27, 2012

Pray the Lord’s Prayer.

As you pray the Lord’s Prayer today, pause at the end of each phrase, and focus on the thought. Allow this simple prayer to restore your faith in God and renew your commitment to God.

Our Father, (Mentally picture talking to your Father God)
Who art in Heaven. (Ask God to bring his Glory to earth, specifically, Indiana)
Hallowed be thy name. (What other names can you proclaim to describe God’s holiness?)
Thy kingdom come, (Ask God to bring the Kingdom of God to earth to restore our people.)
Thy will be done, on earth, (Let your will be done, during the Super Bowl activities.)
As it is in Heaven. (Oh, the majesty and magnificence of Heaven be proclaimed on earth!)
Give us this day our daily bread. (Please provide healthy nourishment for people.)
And forgive us our trespasses, (Forgive yourself and correct your wrongful lifestyle.)
As we forgive those who trespass against us. (Be quick to forgive others and receive peace.)
And lead us not into temptation, (Protect your steps to lead you away from sin’s temptations.)
but deliver us from evil. (Remove evil people from your circle of influence.)
For Thine is the kingdom, (Acclaim God as the King of kings and Lord of lords.)
And the power, (Take time to imagine the power of God in the universe, and in you.)
And the glory, (Oh, the majestic Glory of God, that reigns in your life.)
Forever. (How long is “forever”? Imagine living with God forever!)
Amen. (This prayer is proclaimed!)

Day 30 January 28, 2012

Pray the Beatitudes

Read the scripture as a prayer from your heart for each specific situation.
Ask God if there is something you can do to solve a problem in your community.
Invite creative ideas to be shared to solve problems or provide positive experiences
during the Super Bowl events.
Matthew 5:3 – 12 (NIV1984)
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely
say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven,
for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 31 January 29, 2012

Pray for blessings to flow like a river.

Numbers 6:24 – 26 (NIV1984)
“24 The LORD bless you and keep you;
25 the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
26 the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
Ephesians 1: 2 – 3 (NIV1984)
“2 Grace and peace to you from God, our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”

Dear Blessed God, we pray this priestly blessing over people we meet each day. We ask that your blessings pour on us to overflowing so that your blessings ripple from us wherever we walk. People will receive fresh anointings that are necessary for their lives. We ask you to smile on people, be gracious, forgiving, and grant them joyful restoration. We call forth spiritual blessings from the heavenly realms to honor Christ Jesus, especially during the Super Bowl activities. You know what people need in order to be drawn to you. Let this joyous sporting event allow people to celebrate the athletic endurance race of serving Jesus Christ. God we give you praise and honor, as we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 32 January 30, 2012

Gratitude ripples throughout the community and back to God.

1 Thessalonians 5:15 -18 (NIV1984)
“15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong,
but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.
16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually;
18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Colossians 3:17 (NIV1984)
“17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Dear God, as we begin and/or end each day, we must pause and reflect on all of our blessings: whether the warmth of our home, the wildlife busily scampering through our yard, the call from a friend, or the smile of a stranger; it is helpful to stop and recognize what often goes unseen. Before our daily task – simple or challenging, let us seek the Presence of our Heavenly Father. Let us mentally enumerate our “gratitude” and make it our focus for the day. We are grateful that Indianapolis is hosting the Super Bowl. We pray that we are known as a people with grateful hearts. We appreciate you, God. Amen.

*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *
Day 33 January 31, 2012

Pray for the Glory of God to reign over Indiana.

Psalm 57:10-11 (NIV1984)
“10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.”

2 Chronicles 7:2-4 (NIV1984)
2 The priests could not enter the temple of the LORD because the glory of the LORD filled it. 3 When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the LORD above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground,
and they worshiped and gave thanks to the LORD, saying,
“He is good; his love endures forever.”

Oh Glorious Lord God, we praise you for who you are, the great I Am above all other gods on earth. We seek your glory to reign on Indiana during the Super Bowl events so love, joy, peace, goodness, unity, and harmony spring forth and ripple across the city. Please touch the hearts, minds, and souls of people as they are experiencing the many activities of the Super Bowl. They will proclaim godly experiences of encounters with Jesus, the Holy Spirit, or angels. Divine appointments and miracles will be broadcast nationwide. You are the originator of joy, so allow joy to fill the Super Bowl arena and each event. Thank you Glorious God, we know you are good and your love endures forever. Amen.

Week 3 of 40 Days of Prayer for Super Bowl XLVI
Posted by Ruth on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 1:45pm
 Day 15 January 13, 2012

Self-control strengthens the minds of people.

Titus 2:11-13 (TNIV)
“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.
It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled,
upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—
the appearing of the glory of our great God and savior, Jesus Christ.”

It is expected that there will be many ungodly acts committed prior to and during the Super Bowl production here in Indianapolis. The City has made many preparations to limit these acts of personal ungodly displays, especially by persons from outside the Indianapolis area. But not all acts of violence and crime will be stopped as we know. I pray: Almighty God, watch over this city and keep your strong arm of righteousness reaching out to every corner of this city. Keep our citizens awake to these conditions and to let the proper authorities know of where, how, and when these acts of crime will and are occurring so that proper action can be taken. May SELF-CONTROL be exercised by all of God’s creation; especially those who will be partaking in this Indianapolis 2012 Super Bowl. This I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 16 January 14, 2012

Faithfulness preserves pure hearts.

Psalm 92:2 (KJV)
“To show forth thy loving-kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night.”

As the days approach for the Super Bowl here in the Indianapolis area, I pray, Almighty God, that your mercies will be upon all those who are in any way involved in the overall preparations to bring this once a year televised production to our town. I pray that each morning, all Super Bowl workers and volunteers will thank their Father in heaven for the opportunity to make this event the most awarded presentation for the new year in 2012.

I also pray that your faithfulness for this production will continue throughout the whole evening as spectators enjoy the many events that are being made available, on the television, private parties, clubs, restaurants, and in the very confines of Lucas Stadium itself. I pray for the spirit of faithfulness to rule and keep hearts and minds and souls pure before you, God. I pray for Jesus and the Holy Spirit to guide and direct people to be faithful to themselves, their family, and to God. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 17 January 15, 2012

Gentleness displays strength of character.

Pray Psalm 23 today with a renewed understanding.

The Lord is my Shepherd. Jesus shepherds us. Jesus leads us, and when we are tempted to go astray, calls us and brings us securely back to his goodness and gentleness.

I shall not want. We give you thanks. In the light of all that you provide for us, our wants fade away as a mist when it is bathed in the sunlight of your goodness and gentleness.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. Let your gentleness bring refreshment, peace and restoration to troubled souls.

He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Guide the paths of all who are preparing for and who will attend the super bowl into righteousness. Surround these events with your holiness that each participant will be shown the path of your gentleness and righteousness.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. We will not fear the enemy's attempts to shadow this event with evil because we know that you are here with us. We claim the light of your goodness to remove any shadow of evil. Reveal clearly any evil that the tempter may attempt to disguise. Shower us with gentleness.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Thank you, God that you are preparing a table of goodness, gentleness, peace, and joy that will overflow into the lives of the people who attend and present this event.

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Let your goodness, gentleness, and love so shine that people will recognize you, and be changed and drawn into your fold forever. For all of these blessings and protection, we give you honor and glory and praise.
Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 18 January 16, 2012

Confuse and destroy any plans of the enemy: drugs, trafficking, terrorism, robbery, murder, scams, and all types of evil schemes.

Exodus 14:21-25 (NIV1984)
“21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea,
and all that night the LORD drove the sea back with a strong east wind
and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided,
22 and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground,
with a wall of water on their right and on their left.
23 The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots
and horsemen followed them into the sea.
24 During the last watch of the night the LORD looked down from the pillar of fire
and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion.
25 He made the wheels of their chariots come off[b] so that they had difficulty driving.
And the Egyptians said, “Let’s get away from the Israelites!
The LORD is fighting for them against Egypt.”

The God of Moses, please lead us with your cloud by day and pillar of fire by night as the people plan for the Super Bowl. Bring people safely into Indiana. Protect them with your angelic army controlling the cloud to keep out the darkness and the fire to bring light and hope for people who live here and others visiting. Teach us not to be afraid, but to stand firm, believing the Lord will fight for us, and we will witness the deliverance from the Lord.

Oh, Jesus, when evil or temptations cross our paths, we pray for you to confuse and destroy the plans of the enemy so no harm comes to people. We pray the enemy declares that they cannot succeed and turn from their wicked ways. They understand that their scheming ways are not prosperous in Indiana. They flee in the opposite direction, but God is still there.

We pray for each person who plans evil, to remove the scales of sinful living from their eyes, so they can witness you personally. Then they will give their hearts to you, God, and be restored to serving you. We claim every soul, who comes to the Super Bowl to experience your presence, and believe you are the true Son of God. We want no one to perish before they give their heart to Jesus. We claim super-natural encounters, divine opportunities for people to meet and experience your presence. You reside in the miracle working zone of Indianapolis, Indiana. Miraculous signs and wonders come forth to glorify God. Thank you, Holy Spirit for courage, divine encounters, and miracles. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 19 January 17, 2012

Pray for churches to be involved in creative ways to help people feel welcome.

Hebrews 13:2 (NIV)
“Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers,
for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.”

3 John 1:8 (NIV)
“We ought therefore to show hospitality to such people
so that we may work together for the truth.”

Dear Heavenly Father,
Fill your churches here in Indianapolis with your Holy Spirit in such a way that we can share your spirit with the world during the week of the Super Bowl. Enable us to work together as a community to witness to all the visitors who will be here. Give us new insight into the most effective way to reach the nonbelievers. Show us the way, Lord, to reflect your love to all who will be watching us. Help us be kind and patient with the visitors and the inconveniences of the traffic and crowds. Open our eyes to the opportunities these may present to be your witness and to show hospitality to strangers. In Jesus name we pray, Amen

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 20 January 18, 2012

Pray for the families who live in Indianapolis to be protected and blessed.

Isaiah 58:7-9 (NIV1984)
"7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe him,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness[a] will go before you,
and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I."

Dear God, we thank you for our families and seek your protection during this new year. We pray for your love to pour into our hearts so we can view each one through your eyes. We desire respect for parents and children so they can live in unity and harmony. Please place a hedge of protection around our families so they can remain faithful to their vows as they desire to remain a solid unit. We ask that families share creative ideas on how to minister to people during the Super Bowl events and activities. Please encourage families to quietly prayer walk together throughout the city, in front of hotels, or give out tracts. Please protect our families. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 21 January 19, 2012

Pray for the people attending the Super Bowl to be blessed and protected.

Psalm 37:27-29 (NIV1984)
“27 Turn from evil and do good;
then you will dwell in the land forever.
28 For the LORD loves the just
and will not forsake his faithful ones.
They will be protected forever,
but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off;
29 the righteous will inherit the land
and dwell in it forever.”

Jehovah Jireh, the God Who Provides, we ask that you shower us with your blessings in preparation of the Super Bowl. We ask that you bless us in the morning, during the day, and throughout the night. With your blessings come protection of evil, danger, storms, and threats. We thank you, in advance, for pouring your forgiveness and love on us during the variety of events leading up to the Super Bowl, during the game, and the celebrations afterwards. We give you all the praise for your blessings and protection. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 22 January 20, 2012

Pray for the Indiana State and Local Government to provide protection.

Romans 13:1-3 The Message
“1-3Be a good citizen. All governments are under God. Insofar as there is peace and order,
it's God's order. So live responsibly as a citizen. If you're irresponsible to the state,
then you're irresponsible with God, and God will hold you responsible.
Duly constituted authorities are only a threat if you're trying to get by with something.
Decent citizens should have nothing to fear.
3-5Do you want to be on good terms with the government?
Be a responsible citizen and you'll get on just fine, the government working to your advantage. But if you're breaking the rules right and left, watch out.
The police aren't there just to be admired in their uniforms.
God also has an interest in keeping order, and he uses them to do it.
That's why you must live responsibly—
not just to avoid punishment but also because it's the right way to live.”

The Great Elohim, please show your power and your might through the government to protect the citizens during the programs leading up to the Super Bold. Please grant the government wisdom and discernment on what to do in case of emergencies. Provide skilled police officers, experienced transportation drivers, trained fire fighters, alert security guards, dedicated National Guard, equipped paramedics and medical teams to be prepared to mobilize. Motivate local citizens to unite to support our government to maintain peace and security for all. Open the hearts of the visitors to be receptive to achieving harmony and safety, also. God of Power, we know you are in control and we welcome your presence in our government to honor you. We ask this prayer in the name of Jesus. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 23 January 21, 2012

Pray for the Indiana State and Local Government to display wise leadership.

1 Timothy 2:1-3 The Message
“1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray.
Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation.
This is the way our Savior God wants us to live.”

God, the Creator of Wisdom, we call upon you to intervene into the minds, souls, and hearts of our leadership throughout the state and even our nation, to rule and reign. We need you to blanket us with your wisdom during this time in history. We fear our results when we don’t turn to you for wisdom. The folly of man can be destructive. Thank you for pouring more wisdom into our government leaders to influence everyone in their daily lives. We thank you and praise you for sending your son, Jesus, to teach us how to be wiser. We praise you for the gift of the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us daily as we listen to wisdom whispered into our minds. Amen.

Day 24 January 22, 2012

Pray for educators to teach concepts of the Super Bowl for learning purposes.

Proverbs 18:15 The Message
“Wise men and women are always learning, always listening for fresh insights.”

Proverbs 1:1-5 The Message
“ 1-6 These are the wise sayings of Solomon,
David's son, Israel's king—
Written down so we'll know how to live well and right,
to understand what life means and where it's going;
A manual for living,
for learning what's right and just and fair;
To teach the inexperienced the ropes
and give our young people a grasp on reality.”

Oh Holy Teacher, Jesus, we come before your throne to grant us a greater desire to learn. Open our minds so we can learn new knowledge, skills, and talents. Please open doors of opportunities to stimulate learning. Inspire creative ways to utilize the Super Bowl as a learning tool for the teachers and students. Many students will be taking part in activities leading up to the Super Bowl. We plead for your protection on them. We want no child taken advantage of during this time. Thank you, Jesus, for inspiring us to seek you in all things, so we invite you as our special guest at each event in the Super Bowl. We love and honor you as our great inspiration. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 25, January 23, 2012

Pray for the Media to report the truth about events surrounding the Super Bowl.

Zechariah 8:3 (NIV)
3 This is what the LORD says: “I will return to Zion and dwell in Jerusalem.
Then Jerusalem will be called the Faithful City,
and the mountain of the LORD Almighty will be called the Holy Mountain.”

1 Peter 2:1 (NIV)

1 Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit,
hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.

Exodus 20:1 (NIV)
16 You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

3 John 1:8 (NIV)
8 We ought therefore to show hospitality to such people
so that we may work together for the truth.

Dear Heavenly Father,
We want Indianapolis to be known as the Faithful City. We want to send out our prayers so they surround the city with love and your Holy Spirit. Please keep the forces of evil, darkness, and lies away. We especially pray this prayer for reporters in the media, who will be here to sell their stories, in whatever way they can. We pray that they focus on the good things that happen during the week and report events truthfully, not sensationally. We pray they "rid themselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy and slander of every kind" and that they do not tell lies to sell their stories.

Keep us faithful in prayer, all the time, but especially these next two weeks, so that Indianapolis will be called the Faithful City. Let us show hospitality to all the visitors so that we may work together for truthful accounts of the Super Bowl week. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen

Week 2 of 40 Days of Prayer for Super Bowl XLVI
Posted by Ruth on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 1:28pm
 Day 8 January 6, 2012

The “Fruit of the Spirit” will be displayed throughout the city.

Isaiah 11:2 (NIV)
The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.
Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

We must continually “breathe in” God’s grace by meditating on his word, praying to Him, thanking him for his mercy and enjoying the fellowship of other believers. As we are filled with his grace, we can then “breathe it out” to others by confessing our wrongs, bringing them hope through the gospel, and manifesting in our words and actions the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Our Heavenly Father, we thank you for our many blessings. Guide us, dear Father, as we interact with all those who will visit our city. Embrace us as we truly become “Christian Soldiers” going forth to share love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control with all who visit our city. In your name we pray, Amen

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Day 9 January 7, 2012

Love abounds throughout the city and state.

1 John 4:7 – 9 (NIV)
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
9 This is how God showed his love among us:
He sent his one and only Son[a] into the world that we might live through him.”

If we do not love ourselves, to a degree at least, it is impossible for us to believe that others love us. We shrug off such comments. We say “You’re just being kind.” But why should we doubt others. We doubt them because we haven’t learned to accept ourselves as a lovable being.
We owe it to ourselves and to God to love ourselves—in a Christ-like way. We owe it to ourselves and to God to acknowledge we are truly made in the image and likeness of the King of love, and therefore we are lovable—every last one of us! And when we can love ourselves as we should, we can truly be channels of God’s love to our neighborhood and to our city, our state, and all of its visitors.

Dear Father, we love you so much, and we ask your guidance and blessing as we share our love with your Children who will be visiting our city. Be with us as we spread your Spirit with everyone. Amen.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 10 January 8, 2012

Joy-filled attitudes displayed and experienced.

Zephaniah 3:17 NAB
“The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with JOY; he will rest in his love, he will JOY over thee with singing.”

As the people of Indianapolis, it’s City Leadership, make last minute preparations for the long awaited Super Bowl battle in Lucas Stadium on February 5, 2012, “I pray Father God, that all manner of operations that would render greatness, beautification, excellence, morality, and discernment will be observed by all peoples during this great event. The people of this city should be proud to be a part of this product and great reports will be aired throughout this nation and world as to the forthrightness of the city of Indianapolis and its people to present a product of this dimension.”

For your word Father God, in Isaiah 55: 12, says, with anticipation: “For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you in singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.” Thank you for the joy that reigns in the hearts of people during this event. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 11 January 9, 2012

Peace rules and reigns throughout Indianapolis.

John 14:27 (NIV1984)
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Col 3:15 (NIV1984)
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

Thank you, God for the peace that you gave us through Jesus Christ your Son. Let your peace rule in our hearts and in the hearts of those who are here in Indianapolis. Your peace transcends any chaos, fear, or temptations that are thrust at us by the enemy. We claim your authority and accept the gift of your peace to rule in our hearts. Pour out your peace among all of the people who gather for the Super Bowl. Let us share the precious gift of your peace with all who you bring into our pathways. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 12 January 10, 2012

Patience carries people to bring help and healing.

Ecclesiastes 7:8 (NIV1984)
“The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride.”

James 5:10-11 (NIV1984)
“10. Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11. As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job's perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.”

Give us patience as we deal with the differences and challenges of being in a new place, crowded space, and the tension of competition. Keep us aware that many people we contact may be experiencing excitement, frustration, or confusion, and may need us to extend extra patience with them. It is often difficult for us to be aware of the needs of other people when we are in unfamiliar circumstances. We ask for your grace and patience that we may reflect your love to all that we meet. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 13 January 11, 2012

Goodness instills faith and belief in one another.

2 Thessalonians 3:13 (NIV1984)
“And as for your brothers, never tire of doing what is right.”

Psalm 31:19 – 20 (NKJV)
“19 Oh, how great is Your goodness,
Which You have laid up for those who fear You,
Which You have prepared for those who trust in You
In the presence of the sons of men!
20 You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence
From the plots of man;
You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion
From the strife of tongues.”

Dear Heavenly Father, may we show goodness to those in our city, because of Your Goodness. You have showered us with goodness every day. Since we know your goodness, then teach us how to show goodness to the visitors attending the events surrounding the Super Bowl. Help us to believe in one another and help those in need. We ask this prayer in your son's name - Jesus. Amen
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 14 January 12, 2012

Kindness cultivates positive actions.

Titus 3:4-5a (NIV1984)
“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy.”

Dear Lord, Let us be kind to one another, because you've been kind to us and loved us. We accept kind deeds done for us so we understand how to be kind and gracious to others. Pour kindness on people who have hurt us and we will both be blessed. We ask this prayer in your son's name - Jesus. Amen

Introduction

Many people have been asking what they can do to prepare for the Super Bowl coming to our great city. The most important thing we can do is PRAY, each day, for the Glory and Favor of God to shine on Indianapolis, Indiana. The “Encounters Sunday School Class” from Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, in Indianapolis, pooled their inspirations to ask for divine intervention before, during, and after the Super Bowl. Join us each day as we focus on our hearts beating in rhythm with God to bless us over the next forty days. People are encouraged to FAST.
Jesus gave you the ability to pray with the power of the Holy Spirit.
Believe that your prayers will be answered.

John 14:12-14 (NIV1984)
“12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing.
He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.
14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”

John 15:7-9 (NIV1984)
“7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. 9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.”

Dear God, Thank you for creating us to be alive at this time in history. We praise you for your creativity and talents that you pass along to each one of us. We ask for you to send your Glory and Favor to Indiana over the next forty days in preparation of the Super Bowl. We invite you to be our honored guest in the city of Indianapolis, Indiana. Teach us to fine tune our hearts to the rhythm and desires of your heart. Show us how we can share our faith and love for you with others that enter our city. Please bring revival to Indiana so those who come here will take the fire of the Holy Spirit back to their communities. We ask you to send your angels to wage spiritual warfare, in the heavens, to protect and lead us over the course of events to prepare for a safe and successful Super Bowl. We give you all praise, honor, and most importantly, our love. We ask this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.

Day 1 December 30, 2011
Pray For the Glory of God to Reign Over Indiana and Specifically, Indianapolis.

Exodus 40:34 (NIV1964)
“[ The Glory of the LORD ] Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting,
and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.”
2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (NIV1984)
“17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect[a] the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

Dear God, We come into your presence, into your Glory, to honor and love you. We desire that you bring your Glory to earth, specifically, Indiana, over the next forty days. We seek your presence before, during, and after the Super Bowl. Wherever your Glory reigns, darkness must flee quickly in all directions from our state. Please shower us with your Glory so people will see Jesus Christ through us. We desire that you work through us to give you the honor and Glory you deserve. Whoever comes through Indiana will say, “I felt the Glory of God and I want it for me.” We give you praise and celebrate the Glory Cloud over Indiana. We ask this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 2 December 31, 2012
Pray for a Spirit of Revival to ignite and spread like wildfire throughout Indiana. The people attending the Super Bowl will take the revival back to their states, and countries.

1 Chronicles 16:34-36 (NIV1984)
“34 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
35 Cry out, “Save us, O God our Savior;
gather us and deliver us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name,
that we may glory in your praise.”
36 Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting.
Then all the people said “Amen” and “Praise the LORD.””

We praise you O Lord, for your goodness and your love does endure forever. Please send the Holy Spirit and burn our hearts with love for you, Jesus, and our Heavenly Father. Forgive us of our sins as we forgive others who have hurt us. Cover us with the blood of Jesus for protection from evil and sickness. Teach us how to seek the heart of God so we will know how to live godly lives. Light the fires of revival in each church as people seek the face of God and model the life of Jesus. Unite the churches in the city for the purpose of revival. Break off religious spirits which chain people in bondage from spreading the message of hope in Jesus Christ. Breathe on us a fresh breath of love, wisdom, courage, unity, favor, and glory. We ask this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 3 January 1, 2012
Pray for Repentance for the people in the city of Indianapolis
so we can receive God’s blessings of wisdom, love, favor, prosperity, and success.

Make Psalm 85 your prayer today for yourself, our city, and for the people attending the Super Bowl. Whenever you see the word “Selah,” you are to stop and concentrate on the meaning of the thought. Take time to ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins. Forgive others who have hurt you, then God can forgive you of your sins. Forgiveness brings God’s blessings and peace.
Psalm 85 (NIV1984)
“1 You showed favor to your land, O LORD;
you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
2 You forgave the iniquity of your people
and covered all their sins. Selah

3 You set aside all your wrath
and turned from your fierce anger.
4 Restore us again, O God our Savior,
and put away your displeasure toward us.
5 Will you be angry with us forever?
Will you prolong your anger through all generations?
6 Will you not revive us again,
that your people may rejoice in you?
7 Show us your unfailing love, O LORD,
and grant us your salvation.
8 I will listen to what God the LORD will say;
he promises peace to his people, his saints—
but let them not return to folly.
9 Surely his salvation is near those who fear him,
that his glory may dwell in our land.
10 Love and faithfulness meet together;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
and righteousness looks down from heaven.
12 The LORD will indeed give what is good,
and our land will yield its harvest.
13 Righteousness goes before him
and prepares the way for his steps.”
AMEN!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Day 4 January 2, 2012
Break off any curses that prevent people from achieving their godly purpose, and businesses from being profitable and influential.

Galatians 3: 13, 14 (NIV1984)
“13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”[f] 14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.”

Thank you, Jesus, that you came to earth, lived among the people, taught the New Covenant of God’s love, mercy, and grace. Thank you for your suffering, just for me, at this time in history. I believe that you are the only, true Son of God. Please break any curses off of me from past generations that are keeping me from my destiny. Please break word curses spoken over me by anyone so that I am free to pursue my destiny.

I pray this prayer over the city of Indianapolis, to break curses from the past or present generations that prevent Indianapolis from being a strong model city in the United States. Thank you for restoring the people and the city of Indianapolis to a standard of favor and blessings to you that will ripple across the nation. Please send your cloud of glory by day and fire by night to light the way for the people in Indianapolis. Thank you, Jesus, we want to bless and honor you. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Day 5 January 3, 2012
Pray for creative ideas to flow for products and positive services.

James 1:17 (NIV1984)
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

Thank you God, the Creator of the Universe, for instilling creative ideas into the minds of people around the world. We know that all good gifts come from heaven. We ask for divinely inspired products to flow freely connecting people desiring the items. We pray for creative and positive services to help people during the Super Bowl to spring forth. We pray for people to invest their money wisely as well as people spend their money carefully. Thank you for the creative mind to bring about more love and respect for you, Lord, through their products and services. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 6 January 4, 2012

Pray for random acts of kindness to bless people.

Genesis 24: 12, 14 (NIV)
“Then he (Abraham’s servant) prayed, “O Lord, God of my master Abraham,
give me success today, and show kindness to my master Abraham.
May it be that when I say to a girl, “Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and I’ll water your camels too’—
let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac.
By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.”

The completed beauty of Jesus’ life is only the added beauty of little inconspicuous acts of beauty—talking with the woman at the well; showing the young ruler the stealthy ambition laid away in his heart that kept him out of the kingdom of Heaven; shedding a tear at the grave of Lazarus; teaching a little group of followers how to pray; preaching the Gospel one Sunday afternoon to two disciples going out to Emmaus; kindling a fire and broiling fish that His disciples might have a breakfast waiting for them when they came ashore from a night of fishing…cold, tired and discouraged. By reaching out to others through random acts of kindness, we can show the love of our Heavenly Father to all those who enter our city. Thank you, Jesus, for your example.

Our Father, we pray that the citizens of Indianapolis will welcome all visitors by bestowing random acts of kindness upon them. We ask your guidance as we welcome strangers, and make them into friends. We are all your children, we worship and adore you, and we ask your blessings upon our city, its residents, and its visitors. Amen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Day 7 January 5, 2012

Indianapolis is a “Lighthouse of Hope” for the people who enter Indiana.
Romans 5:1-2 (NIV)
“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.
And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.”

Isaiah 42:4 -6 The Message
“[ The God Who Makes Us Alive with His Own Life ] God's Message, the God who created the cosmos, stretched out the skies, laid out the earth and all that grows from it, Who breathes life into earth's people, makes them alive with his own life: "I am God. I have called you to live right and well. I have taken responsibility for you, kept you safe. I have set you among my people to bind them to me, and provided you as a lighthouse to the nations, To make a start at bringing people into the open, into light: opening blind eyes, releasing prisoners from dungeons, emptying the dark prisons. I am God. That's my name. I don't franchise my glory, don't endorse the no-god idols. Take note: The earlier predictions of judgment have been fulfilled. I'm announcing the new salvation work. Before it bursts on the scene, I'm telling you all about it."

As the Star of Bethlehem guided the Wise Men to the manger, we can provide Indianapolis with a beacon of hope to all who enter our city. As Christians, we must pray without ceasing that everyone who comes to Indianapolis to enjoy the festivities of the Super Bowl will embrace our city with peace, love, and a sense of hope.

Our Father, please be with us as we turn Indianapolis into a “Lighthouse of Hope” for those visitors who are lost, those who are seeking meaning in their lives, those who have strayed and need to find you again. We pray that all who enter our city feel welcomed, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

I will add the next days soon.
